This page describes what this site actually does, not what a template says a site should do.

No account, nothing to sign up for

HTML5 Advent has no accounts, no registration and no newsletter. You can read every guide without giving anything, and there is no user database here to leak.

Audience measurement

The site loads Google Analytics (property G-0EWQXHK44R) on every page. Being straight with you: this happens without asking you first — there is no consent banner on this site today, unlike some of our other sites. If you would rather not be counted, a tracker blocker or your browser's "do not track" setting will stop it, and nothing on the site breaks when you do.

What is recorded is standard page-level analytics: which page was viewed, roughly where from, which device class. Not who you are.

Affiliate links

Some guides contain affiliate links, mainly to hosting and developer tools. If you follow one and subscribe, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking one is recorded as an event in our own analytics — which link, on which page, not who clicked. Following the link takes you to the partner's site, which applies its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by our hosting provider, which keeps technical logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page — for security and troubleshooting. That is standard for any web server, and we do not use those logs to profile readers.

What we hold about you

Nothing, unless you email us. There is no profile to export and nothing to delete on our side. If you have written to us and want that message removed, ask and it will be — see the contact page.
