About HTML5 Advent

HTML5 Advent publishes practical guides to the modern web platform: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the browser APIs that sit between them. The aim is narrow on purpose — explain what a feature actually does, what it costs, and when not to use it.

Who writes this

The site is edited independently by a single editorial team. It is not operated on behalf of any browser vendor, framework or hosting company, and no article is commissioned or reviewed by a third party before publication.

How guides are written

How this site is funded

Some guides contain affiliate links, mainly to hosting and developer tools. If you follow one and subscribe, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed on every page that carries one, and they never change which tool a guide recommends: the recommendation is decided before any offer is attached to it.

Corrections and contact

If a guide is wrong, out of date, or unclear, tell us — that is the fastest way for it to improve. Write to referencement.frb@gmail.com, or see the contact page. How we handle analytics and data is set out on the privacy page.
